Colonel Meghan “Mimi” Raleigh is the Chief Medical Officer at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX. She is the first Consultant to the Surgeon General for Sports Medicine and previously held the role of Deputy Consultant to the Surgeon General for Family Medicine (2018-2022).
A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Jefferson Medical College, COL Raleigh’s career began with Family Medicine Residency at DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, VA, where she served as Chief Resident. Her early assignments included Officer in Charge of DiRaimondo Family Medicine Clinic at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO, where she also served as the World Class Athlete Program Physician. During this assignment, she deployed to Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq as the Battalion Surgeon for the 4th Infantry Division Special Troop Battalion.
COL Raleigh returned to Fort Belvoir as family medicine core faculty, complementing this with a Faculty Development fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her interest in human performance and musculoskeletal injuries led her to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Uniformed Services University in 2015. Following fellowship, she returned to full-scope family medicine, serving as the Chief of Primary Care and Sports Medicine at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, LA.
A graduate of both the Command and General Staff College and the Theater Sustainment Planners Course, COL Raleigh brings a comprehensive understanding of military operations and logistics to her medical leadership. She spent two years as a Sustainment Observer, Coach, and Trainer at the Mission Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and recently completed five years as the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at Fort Hood (June 2020 – June 2025). During this tenure, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society.
COL Colonel Raleigh is a volunteer with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, notably providing primary care for over 860 members of the Team USA delegation at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
COL Raleigh is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has held leadership roles within the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians (USAFP), including Army Director, Past President, and current AAFP Delegate.
Her military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 oak leaf cluster), and the Army Achievement Medal (3 oak leaf clusters). She holds the Surgeon General’s 9A Proficiency Designator, signifying national prominence in her field, and is an inductee in the Order of Military Medical Merit.
Colonel Raleigh is a proud dual-military spouse to Conor, and a devoted mom to Liam (7) and Kevin (5).
