The First Induction of the Legacy Leaders Hall of Honor
Pioneers & Creators of USAFP from 1972-1975

The USAFP Foundation Board of Trustees inducted the first Legacy Leaders at the 2025 USAFP Annual Meeting & Exposition at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Foundation Board Chair MG (ret) Phil Volpe announced the inaugural class of recipients during the Installation and Awards Luncheon on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

Nominate Your Peers

USAFP Legacy Leaders was established in 2024 by the USAFP Foundation to recognize those select few Uniformed Family Physicians who have demonstrated the very highest levels of character, excellence, and leadership and whose career of service and contributions distinguishes them as truly exemplary within our Academy and Military Medicine.

Membership Criteria:
Membership recognizes those Uniformed Family Physicians whose career (in general, minimum of 15 years) of service and contributions distinguishes them as exemplary within our Academy and Military Medicine; who have role modeled the very highest standards of character, excellence, and leadership; and who have made significant contributions to our USAFP mission, vision, and goals.

Eligibility:

  • Any currently serving or retired Uniformed Family Physician may nominate worthy individuals for induction.
  • Any currently serving Active Duty, Reserve Component, or retired Uniformed Family Physician is eligible for induction.
  • Individuals whose status is other than the aforementioned association with USAFP, and who otherwise meet the membership criteria, shall be eligible for induction as an honorary member.

Nomination Packet:
One letter of nomination (no more than 2 pages, double-spaced) specifying how the nominee’s career exemplifies the Membership criteria and including:

  • Nominee’s BIO
    • Leadership positions and specific contributions to USAFP
    • Leadership positions and specific contributions to Military Medicine
  • One letter of recommendation; not from the nominator (1 page, double-spaced)
  • CV and/or resume

The USAFP Foundation Board of Trustees encourages any USAFP member to nominate your peers for this prestigious honor. Please submit the nomination packet to Mary Lindsay White, USAFP-F Executive Trustee, mlwhite@vafp.org. The application period is open annually from April – December.
